The best UBER ride EVER!
I had a fantastic experience in a Sydney Uber recently. I got picked up by the driver and, after the usual pleasantries, I noticed he was playing some classical music. This was different to the usual ‘safe pop’ that you get in a taxi and it grabbed my attention.
So, I asked him what he was playing and he invited me to take part in a thing he has going with his passengers. He is creating a playlist on Spotify of their favourite music. The deal was I had to tell him my favourite contemporary song and piece of classical music. It made me think for a few minutes (how do you choose!?).
So, I gave him my two offerings. Then, the next part of the deal was I had to tell him why they were my favourites. And, if I couldn’t, I had to sing it. He found the song on Spotify and I found myself belting out a rendition!
He also made the playlist available to me so I can follow its progress.
So many elements and lessons to this journey!
Don’t judge a book by its cover (he didn’t strike me as a classical music lover – camo cargo pants and a singlet).
Don’t feel shy about putting yourself out there.
It feels nice to be invited to belong to something special.
An otherwise mundane job (and journey) was made easier by engaging with each other.
I’d love to see more of this! Share your best journey or random experience in the comments.
