Flip the Script on Burnout

"Life is a grindstone, and whether it grinds you down or polishes you up is for you and you alone to decide." -Cavett Robert.

I often get asked if there is ever an upside, or a positive, to being burnt out.

Well, I reckon there certainly is. And Stephen McCatchley, NYT bestselling author thinks so, too.

Burnout has been the primary focus and the number one mental health issue in organisations globally for the past few years. As we approach a new year, and a new beginning in so many ways, are we ready for a new look at it?

What are the positives to Burnout?

Burnout lights the fire of change. Burnout stretches us and forces our hands to innovate, to be inspired, to become introspective, and to gain clarity on what holds us back or down.

It can motivate us and give us the courage to adapt and change our circumstances. In short, it supports us to shift to self-care in many ways.

Where do we find the positives in our situation? Through Resilience. This is more than just bouncing back from adversity – this is advancing despite adversity. Seeing opportunities where others see a downward spiral.

Let’s explore these concepts in the coming newsletters from me. I hope you feel inspired to follow them, and feel free to comment on them if something inspires you.
