Be where your feet are
“You’re burned out because this culture has messed up our priorities, not because there’s something wrong with you.” — Juliana Finch
Just this week I have spoken with two business leaders who are finding some of their people, who left recently, asking for their jobs back.
Recent Peakon Workday research tells us that if employees were offered the same job, at the same pay, but in a different workplace, 13% more would change companies than would stay where they are.
But, changing jobs isn’t always the answer, because the grass isn’t always greener over there. You need to be where your feet are. Because your head will be right there with you.
And an extra $20-30k (I’ve heard as much as $90k increase in salary to move) isn’t going to relieve your burnout or stress levels. In fact, it is going to increase them. You aren’t getting the extra money for nothing!
Get the basics right first (focus on self-care through sleep, diet, exercise, mindset).
Then decide on your priorities. Is it more family time? Is it working remotely? Is it a career change? Career prospects? Not feeling valued? Not feeling impactful? Less commuting?
Then, review your circumstances and see if your employer is open to listening to you. Then decide.
I can help with that.
